Pumpkin Tales in Alwarpet serves the specialities of Singaporean, European, Continental cuisines. Bright colourful chairs in a big hall, sofa's at the corners & music at the background. PUMPKIN SOUP was a great start since it was nicely creamy with an hint of coconut milk added to crunchy pumpkin seeds. Taco's are slowly picking up in Chennai not many places offer that now, basically a Chappathi / Roti stuffed, here it was PRAWNS and AVOCADO went really well with the dips. Haven't had Avacado in a dish before also Non fried Prawns added a great taste to this one. CHORIZO SAUSAGE, the Bacon was flavorful but very hard to bite. SINGAPORE LAKSA in main course, a huge quantity of soupy noodles, soft pieces of Chicken added to coconut milk, hint of masala's was worth the order for two people. 4 dishes at 1500 ₹ with an almost satisfying meal and a lot of interesting dishes to explore was the feeling this place left us with.
#VaPho is a fun dining Asian restaurant opened to great reviews before 2 years in TTK road, have come a long way to launch their second outlet inside Ampa Skywalk. It got that catchy name as VA PO in Thamizh, though VA meaning Rice and PHO meaning Noodles in Vietnamese language. Yes it brings the food from Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia in a proper way to match our people’s tastes. Though DIMSUM ‘s or MOMO ‘s are the first attraction, they serve the best BAO ‘s, a dish made of steamed bun stuffed with Fish, Chicken and Mushroom, Tofu for Veg. FISH GARLIC and PEPPER is a lightly spiced dish, for more spicier they have VA PHO PRAWNS or MUSHROOMS too. CHILLI BEEF even though looked like a fast food style preparation, the quality of beef was good. From steamed rice, jasmine rice to home style fried rice, from Glass noodles to Flat type noodles, they have a lot of varieties. NASI GORENG in rice, MEE GORENG in noodles have been a famous street food in all parts of Asia. Costs around 800 ₹ for two people, it’s totally worth for an all new different food and an experience.
The Board Room Cafe : Chennai 's cafe scenes are very well increasing with a cafe being opened every week exploring with some new food, ambience and others. Now with Board Room, they have gone one step ahead by introducing a cafe especially for the Board Games. Few cafe's already have some countable number of games that we can play while munching on the food. But this one is completely dedicated to BOARD GAMES and for the exact numbers, they have 425 games for now. You read it, right ! The owners with a great passion for board games will take care of everything from what game you would like to play, to explaining each and every rules clearly making you comfortable right from the word go. They have also planned it perfectly on the moneyfront charging 150 ₹ for the first hour and after that even if you spend the whole day, it's just 250 ₹ in Weekday & 350 ₹ in a Weekend. That on a whole easily justify the money spent by the owners because every single game that we researched online costed around 2000, 4000, 6000 ₹ & so on. Food just plays a minor part here, so don't expect much but yeah you get starters, pastas, more Teas, less coffees all with a Pure Vegetarian tag. Few of the games that we played here are Monastry, Patch Work, Splendor and more and more. Overall, this place is a treat for all the Board Game lovers, for others it's definitely an engaging experience making you to revisit the place once again. !
DESI DI used to be a favorite restaurant in Ayanavaram got closed down unfortunately and now after 2 years, Desi Di is back in a more prime location of Poes Garden. The same Chef (named Chefcouts) is also back in operations, so happy even before visiting. LITCHI and JAMUN (Navaal Pazham) (180₹) fruit juices to start, without any sugar syrups was good. CORN BHUTTA KEBAB (180₹) in 2 ways, liked the one similar to a vada form better. MUTTON BOTTI PLATE (380₹) don't get wrong with the name here, it was a super succulent mutton pieces. AFGHANI NATTU KOZHI (380₹) was so so tender done in a malai style, less flavour but stronger taste. CHICKEN KEBAB COATED ON SUGARCANE STICKS (280₹) is a trademark dish of the chef. OFF to the main course, DOSA WAFFLE (180₹) with PRAWN MALAI CURRY (420₹) just blew our mind. Dosa batter in Waffle maker made so soft, it looks exactly like Waffle but when you chew, you get to taste Dosa, outstanding one. Desserts GULAB JAMUN CHEESECAKE (300₹) was good. But GREEN APPLE inside JALEBI with RABDI and STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM(280₹) was wow. Full credits for putting together this. With more dishes coming in, Experiment & Explore the local cuisine with Desi Di.
