Burma Bazaar – All you want to know
The famous Burma bazaar established in the year 1969 outside Chennai beach railway station by Tamil Nadu government for Burma Tamil refugees. Run by Burma Tamil Sangam. It’s a row of small shops like a match stick box extends up to 1 km. Even there is around 200+ small shop in a row. All the shops seen crowded almost all the time as people buy some electronics or other products in each shop. The shops sell a wide range of imported electronic products related to mobiles, cd’s, cosmetics, toys and much more.
Before the widespread usage of internet, Burma bazaar served as a dreamland destination for movie buff as a pirated copy of movies in the form of CD’s are sold illegally. It’s the busiest streets of Chennai as around 100000 people pass through the shops daily. Since these shops are run and most of the people in here are from Burma, One can find famous Burmese food Atho (Typically Burmese style noodles) stalls here.
