It’s very hard to find a historic place within the busy city and Madhavaram Kailasanathar temple is one among them. The temple was built 1300 years ago by the king called Nandivarman as it is written in the sculpture inside the temple. The temple is dedicated to Sri Shiva as Kailasanathar and Divine Mother Shakti as Karpagambal. It is located around 1 Km away from madhavaram bus depot. Like any other shiva’s temple madhavaram Kailasanathar temple is also special for Pradhosha (a bimonthly occasion on the thirteenth day of every fortnight in Hindu calendar, It is closely connected with the worship of Hindu god shiva), Where you can see people gathering in large numbers to worship lord shiva.
A very old and ancient temple located at the suburbs of Chennai near Madhavaram and the Linga here is a big one like that of Thanjavur Brahadeeswarar. It is going to get Kumbhabishekam shortly.
